The EHOA was founded in 1998 to help owners of eventing horses gain more recognition in the sport. Initially, the EHOA focused its attention on improving the lot of owners at events eg prize giving, car passes, hospitality, announcements.

Subsequently, we found that since many members were active in industry, sponsorship was an attractive avenue for drawing more money into the sport and we have developed a professional approach to sponsor care in a number of areas including major competitions, recognition awards, training, discounts and we have developed our hospitality package so that we are now at major competitions as sponsorship allows.

We have taken a creative approach to training, providing grass roots riders time with stars of the sport, and, as a result, many owner riders have progressed in the sport further than they had otherwise expected. It also involves top riders and trainers with owners in a mutually beneficial way.

The EHOA is run by owners for owners. We do not take ourselves too seriously. We will continue to increase the social network between owners. We shall make sure we keep our excellent relationships with British Eventing, the Event Riders Assocaition and the Event Organisers.
