Request for your observations on: Owner experiences of the BE technology platform, including EARS component and associated activities

We would like to bring you up to date with the discussions that have been held jointly with British Eventing, The British Eventing Organisers Association (BEOA) and the Event Riders Association and to invite you to become involved. ‘Stakeholder Consultations’ have covered a wide range of topics,  with procedures necessary for the resumption of sport, the strategy for the eventing in 2020 and subsequent seasons, IT developments, owner consultation and representation occupying the majority of the discussions. The minutes of meetings held with BE and others on 22 June and 4 August 2020 will shortly be available on the EHOA website.

Commencing with a meeting on 19th August, these joint discussions with BE will take place fortnightly and with a narrower agenda on each occasion, to enable the stakeholders to communicate in greater depth the issues that their members wish to bring to the attention of BE Executive and Board.

IT developments and the BE Advisory Group initiative have in recent weeks elicited considerable feedback from members of the EHOA. We encourage you to now contribute your views to the discussions on these topics.

The Entries, Administration, Records and Scores (EARS) functions of the BE website has been the focus of the BE IT team workstream over recent months, as has the development of the interface with the Eventing Scores site. With a significant number of competitions having either been completed or currently taking entries, it is our objective to now collect the observations of EHOA members  in order to provide feedback  on horse owners’ experiences of the IT system and related activities. The consequences for owners of the availability of or changes to eventing fixtures, as well as observations relating to the entering of events under the COVID prevention protocols fall under this umbrella. The BE Advisory Group’s remit includes consultation with owners, and we take this opportunity to canvas your thoughts on topics that the consultations should encompass. A copy of the terms of reference for the Group are appended.

The experience and views of committed owners are of great importance in the development of policy and practice to better serve the eventing community as a whole. Please take a moment to send an email with your thoughts on the above topics, or indeed to suggest agenda items for future Stakeholder Consultation meetings.
