EHOA MEMBER's LEAGUE

A minimum of £20,000 of prize money in 2022

Announcement ** Calling all eventers aged 45 or older** Register now to participate in the BETTALIFE & EHOA Veteran EventING Championship

A league rewarding those older riders whose passion for eventing burns as strong as ever, with the results of a maximum of five British Eventing competitions completed on one horse to decide the winner of a prestigious trophy accompanied by a generous prize fund.

An initiative supported by BETTALIFE, providers of targeted nutritional support for horses, humans and dogs and the Event Horse Owners Association.

Eligability

ELIGIBILITY

▪ The Veteran Championship is open to fully subscribed members of British Eventing competing at any level of the sport.

▪ Competitors are eligible to participate in the Veteran Championship from the year in which they reach their 45th birthday. That is to say that in the 2023 season athletes must be born in or before 1978.

▪ Copies of the winning competitors’ passports may be requested for verification of date of birth.

▪ Note that the top-ranked 150 persons from British Eventing’s 2022 Riders League are ineligible.

▪ To be considered for the award, riders must register their eligibility with the EHOA by sending their name, BE membership number and the name of their horse, and stating that they agree to be bound by the rules of the competition by e-mail to: theehoa@gmail.com ▪ Ideally, applications to register should be received before the rider and horse have competed in a maximum of THREE British Eventing competitions.

▪ The final date for registration is 1 September 2023.

▪ If more than three competitions have been completed at the time of registration, then the first three completions are counted and subsequent completions are ignored until registration is requested. Thereafter, all subsequent, best scores are considered up to a maximum of five completions.

▪ Riders may register only one horse per season.

▪ By registering, competitors agree to comply with all British Eventing rules and ethical considerations and to the publication of their results, commentary and photographs

Registration

  • To be considered for the award, riders must register their eligibility with the EHOA by sending their name, BE membership number and the name of their horse, and stating that they agree to be bound by the rules of the competition, by e-mail to: theehoa@gmail.com
  • The application to register is to be received at the latest by 1 September 2023, and at the point when a maximum of THREE British Eventing competitions have been completed.
  • Riders may register only one horse per season.
    By registering, competitors agree to comply with all British Eventing rules and ethical considerations and to the publication of their results, commentary and photographs

Awards

  • 1st prize of a trophy, £500, a rosette and sponsor’s products
  • 2nd prize of £250, a rosette and sponsor’s products
  • Prize for the top-ranked rider aged 60 years of age or over of £100, a rosette and sponsors’ products
  • Prize for the top-ranked EHOA member, £100, a rosette and sponsors’ products
  • The BETTALIFE & EHOA Veteran Eventing Championship trophy will be presented at the EHOA Annual Awards Ceremony, to be held at Cheltenham Racecourse on Sunday 19 November 2023, and to which the winner and a guest will be invited free of charge to enjoy the ceremony and a day of racing at Cheltenham’s November Meeting.

COMPETITION

Competitors will be awarded points based on their results achieved when completing a maximum of five BE competitions riding one horse, at any level of competition.

Points will be awarded for competition placings as follows:

  • 20 points for 1st
  • 18 points for 2nd
  • 16 points for 3rd
  • 14 points for 4th
  • 12 points for 5th
  • 10 points for 6th
  • 8 points for 7th
  • 6 points for 8th
  • 4 points for 9th
  • 2 points for completion and jumping double clear
  • 1 point for completion whilst incurring jumping or time penalties.

     

JUDGING

  • The EHOA will monitor and collate the results of registered riders using information available in the public domain via the British Eventing website.
  • Registered riders are invited to provide the EHOA with a summary of their eventing achievements in a maximum of five competitions, to be submitted on or before 31 October 2023.
  • In the event of a tie, the final decision as to the winners of the prizes is that of the EHOA Board.
  • The EHOA Board reserves the right to amend the competition rules during the course of the season as this is a new initiative and alterations may be identified in the inaugural year.

CODE OF CONDUCT

EHOA have the following code of conduct ethos based on integrity, honesty, fair play and respect.  EHOA also puts central focus in terms of conduct on welfare of horse, rider and owner in equal measure. These principles are integral not optional and apply to the competing in this league. It’s the EHOA Board’s decision, at their total discretion, if they believe that anyone connected to this league infringes against this and thereby forfeits any winnings or recognition associated with it.

Owners, Riders and members should:

  • Show respect for their horse/pony, coaches, officials, organisers, steward, fellow members at all times.
  • Respect, dignity and worth of all people involved in the sport should be exercised at all times, regardless of race, gender, colour, disability, sexuality, age, occupation, religion or political opinion.
  • When competing, they should abide by British Eventing rules and accept decisions of organisers and stewards.
  • Rider, owners and members are welcome to raise any query concerning this league. This must be done in a polite, respectful manner to the Chair of the EHOA Board, in a timely manner.
