Burgham International Horse Trials

Tomorrow sees the commencement of the first International in the UK this Summer at Burgham, Northumberland.

There are some specific guidelines that have been published, if you are going please be sure to spend two minutes reading them all.

Directly from Burgham:

Covid-19 Mitigation Plan To Minimise the risk, it is essential that all attendees to Burgham MUST read and follow the guidance laid out. The plan will be updated as required in relation to Government Guidance and has been formulated with the National Governing body British Eventing, our CMO and H&S Advisor.

Overview

If you feel unwell with Symptoms of Covid-19 – high temperature, fever, a persistent cough or loss of taste or smell please DO NOT attend the event.

All persons on Event must adhere to PHE & HMG guidance and advice on social distancing measures which can be found in detail https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

No non-essentials persons on Event Site – Burgham will be closed to the public in 2020.

Please follow clear signage and markings around the event site.

There will be Hand Sanitization Stations around the Event Site which will be well signposted and clearly marked.

Athletes

Keep support crew to a minimum. One groom per horse. For multiple riders we advise to limit grooms to a sensible number, for example 3 Max per 5 horses.

We will have an Information point for competitors. Start Fees will be paid with entry fee in 2020 as per British Eventing guidance. If you do not start, they will be refunded. Your numbers will available to print online before the Event.

Lorry Parking – please observe the marshals on arrival. If you are tying horses to one side – a 5m gap will be left between wagons, if not 3m will be the normal distance. NO Cars will be allowed in the Horse Box Park.

There will be 2 collecting arenas for SJ. 1 pre warm up with no fences and a final warm up with fences. 1 support crew only allowed per horse in warm up. Gloves must be worn. Masks are advisable. Hand sanitizer station will be available.

Owners

Owners – limited to 1 per horse unless from the same household where 2 is acceptable.

There will be a separate Car Park for Owners.

To minimise people onsite, we ask that you watch your own horse compete and leave site in sensible time.

This afternoon there has been a statement from Burgham regarding the athletes that attended Haras du Pin in France last week. It goes without saying that this also applies to Owners that attended in France last week. If you have not seen the statement it can be found here: https://www.britisheventing.com/news/statement-regarding-burgham-international-horse-trials
