Youth Programme Overview
The philosophy on Youth Programmes is to:
- Develop a programme which encourages members to stay engaged with the sport at the end of it, whether they have experienced Championship success or not
- Enable independent well-educated riders who take responsibility for their own performances and have a no excuse attitude towards training and competition
- Continue to facilitate success at senior level with more support offered to those transitioning out of YRs (21-28 years)
- Win team and individual gold medals at Junior and Young Rider Europeans
The Youth Pathway comprises the BE Regional Youth Programme, that incorporates training for athletes aged 12-21 along with competition at BE90 Open to BE Open Intermediate U21, progressing to Regional Academies, the first performance-focused step and the first selective environment for athletes, and teams comprising the best regional athletes.
International Development Squads select athletes aged between 12-21 qualified for international competition. The European Championship Squads comprise athletes selected to compete at the annual Pony, Junior, and Young Rider European Championships, whilst the British Eventing 4* Academy provides a stepping-stone for athletes transitioning from the British Eventing Youth Pathway into the World Class Pathway. The World Class Podium Potential Pathway identifies young athletes who demonstrate the potential to progress to Podium Potential level in the future.
