The last couple of weeks we have been ramping up the work and been cantering up the hill a couple of times a week, this is great as not only does he enjoy it and it gets rid of some of the joys of spring. He’s not getting out in the field much as he would like, as his favourite hobby is to play hippo!
We’ve had an eventing clinic at the yard where he had a dressage lesson in the morning, which went well although it was trying to snow! A show jumping lesson in the indoor school which meant having to work on corners and getting the canter right as it’s a quite tight! Then out on the cross country course in the afternoon. He didn’t have stud holes and it was a bit slippery so we took it quite easy but his ear pricked and you could tell how much he loves it!
Last weekend we had planned to go to a local equestrian centre for an arena one day event but the lorry ramp had other ideas! So we re-rooted and did the dressage competition at the yard. He did a Novice test and then his 1st Elementary test with about 10 minutes warning and it blowing a gale we were really pleased with a 6th in the Novice and 4th in the Elementary.

Saturday sees his 1st BE at Moreton and the reminder of the early starts for the BE season. A huge thank you to the secretary though for thinking of us with distances to travel as the 0500 alarm call is much appreciated over a 0300 one! We all want nice times and it’s an impossible job and I am really appreciative when the distances are taken into account.
