Charter Tax Sponsorship

We are delighted to welcome a new sponsor to our team for this season. Charter Tax is a Chartered Accountancy Practice specialising in providing accountancy, tax advisory and tax compliance services. Our contact there is Janet Paterson who is the Principal of Charter Tax Consulting Limited who competes herself when the soundness of her stable star allows.

She has a small stable yard at home in Kent where she keeps several horses. Janet has joined the owner ranks this season too! SYDSERFF FINNADOON, a pure Connemara, will be showing the ropes to a friend of Janet’s whilst she events JSH SIMPLEY BLUE and brings on her youngster with the 2018 season in mind.

The firm has supported Francis Whittington for two seasons and Janet enjoys lessons with Francis when time allows. Commenting on the new partnership Janet said ‘Eventing really is a small world, my fellow Director Mark Howard has known Francis forever so combined with my personal interest in eventing it seemed a logical step to support him’.

British Eventing ITTP update

As part of the major IT project being implemented by British Eventing, you will notice that the BE membership cards will look slightly different and include a QR code. The inclusion of this QR code will provide those organisers who have scanning technology with greater flexibility on their admission processes. Each organiser will still have their own admission policies and processes and so we recommend that you read carefully the information provided for each event.

BE Membership initiative

Under a new initiative spearheaded by our Chairman, Cathy Butler and Yogi Breisner, the owners of any horse who represented GB on a Championship team in 2016 has been granted a complimentary membership. To reward and recognise the loyalty and dedication of owners of horses selected for Rio 2016, they will receive a two year membership to acknowledge their horse’ s achievements and their support of BE, whilst owners of all British youth team horses have been presented with a 12 month membership for their services to BE.

Ramping up the work…

Jack on Cross Country
Jack on Cross Country

The last couple of weeks we have been ramping up the work and been cantering up the hill a couple of times a week, this is great as not only does he enjoy it and it gets rid of some of the joys of spring. He’s not getting out in the field much as he would like, as his favourite hobby is to play hippo!

We’ve had an eventing clinic at the yard where he had a dressage lesson in the morning, which went well although it was trying to snow! A show jumping lesson in the indoor school which meant having to work on corners and getting the canter right as it’s a quite tight! Then out on the cross country course in the afternoon. He didn’t have stud holes and it was a bit slippery so we took it quite easy but his ear pricked and you could tell how much he loves it!

Last weekend we had planned to go to a local equestrian centre for an arena one day event but the lorry ramp had other ideas! So we re-rooted and did the dressage competition at the yard. He did a Novice test and then his 1st Elementary test with about 10 minutes warning and it blowing a gale we were really pleased with a 6th in the Novice and 4th in the Elementary.

Saturday sees his 1st BE at Moreton and the reminder of the early starts for the BE season. A huge thank you to the secretary though for thinking of us with distances to travel as the 0500 alarm call is much appreciated over a 0300 one! We all want nice times and it’s an impossible job and I am really appreciative when the distances are taken into account.
