Defender Burghley Horse Trials

It’s time for the Defender Burghley horse trials – in less than 7 days we will be gathering on the hallowed turf in Lincolnshire for the iconic 5* held in Burghley Park.

The EHOA will once again have a hospitality marque situated by ring 2 for the duration of the week. We are looking forward to welcoming members over the week. The marquee will open at 08:30 every day and close around 17:30. Tor Rickcord will oversee the front desk and all queries should be directed to Tor in the first instance please.

As soon as the menus are available, I will share to whet your appetite in advance. As normal daily newspapers will be available along with tea / coffee and snacks. On Saturday there will be a breakfast option available too.

We will also once again be welcoming guests if accompanied by an EHOA member. Prices for non-members in 2024 are:

  • Thursday: £15
  • Friday: £20
  • Saturday: £25
  • Sunday: £15

Just a word of warning we will have to limit numbers if we get too full in the hospitality marquee. We have also been asked to share the following words to all members:

Members are expected to take reasonable steps to ensure their own safety and that of guests or minors whilst visiting the EHOA Marquee – to that aim members are responsible for guest and minors behaviours and compliance with any signage or instruction given by EHOA Board members or members of the Burghley team.

Afraid we are not in the position to reserve tables throughout the week, so please do not ask, we do not like saying no!

Board director Mark Corbett has offered to walk the cross-country course with any member that would to go on Friday – time will be confirmed after dressage times are released on Wednesday evening after trot up. The meeting point will be at fence 2. Pop into the marquee to add your name to the list.

Several EHOA discount providers have trade stands at Burghley, so make use of your membership and the discount they offer whilst doing your shopping. We will do a full round up of them next week once they have been able to confirm their location on venue.

A final note to say all stable fields passes for 2024 have been allocated so please do not ask for one now as we have already surpassed our quota!

Look forward to seeing many of you next week.

Cornbury House Horse Trials

Dear Member

In just over three weeks’ time, equestrian’s hottest names including our Team GB Gold Medallists, some of the finest upcoming young riders and some truly world class horses will compete in our five-day sporting spectacular here at Cornbury – Cornbury House Horse Trials (11-15 September).

As you know eventing is a real passion of mine and my family’s and this years’ event will be extra special. More than just a festival of sport, it will be a feast of the senses. There will be live music and woodland crafts set against the glorious backdrop of the ancient Wychwood Forest. There will be the finest locally sourced food and drink from our very own farm. And, once again, we’re teaming up with our friends and neighbours, Phil Winser and his amazing team at The Bull, Charlbury, who will be cooking up a storm.

There will once again be a dedicated Owners Marquee over the course of the event, open throughout the day which will show the live stream of the cross-country with light refreshments available.

For those looking for something more substantial, this year we are introducing The Endless Lunch, available on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September with Mirabeau providing the rose for the afternoon. We really hope that owners with competing horses will make a real day of it and book a space for the afternoon with family and friends.

You can find all the details here – https://www.cornbury house horse trials.co.uk/hospitality/  AND I am delighted to offer EHOA members a special £15 discount on the full package by using the promotional code Endless24 at the checkout point on the booking system.

We can’t wait to see you there.

With best wishes,

David Howden
