International Events are taking place at Millstreet – Ireland and Royal Jump – France. There are a number of EHOA owned horses competing at both locations.

Chillington

  1. Directions: comprehensive ones can be found here. DO NOT FOLLOW THE BROWN CHILLINGTON HALL SIGNS OR FOLLOW A SAT NAV TO ACCESS TO CHILLNGTON HALL. THESE ROUTES ARE UNSUITABLE FOR HORSEBOXES AND TRAILERS. The event will be signed from the A449 Stafford to Wolverhampton Road
  2. Dressage sheets can be collected from the Information Point, once the section has completed dressage. Dressage sheets will be posted if you leave a stamped-addressed envelope with horse number(s) noted on the rear.

Mendip Plains

Directions – From Wells:

Take the A39 out of wells sign posted Bath Bristol, at New Street Junction turn left onto the A39 Sign posted Bath, at Bristol Hill Crossroads continue forward onto the A39 Sign posted Bath, at Pen Hill Junction bear right Sign posted Bath, turn right onto Turnpike Corner Bear left onto Green Street.

From Shepton Mallet:

Take the A37 sign posted Bristol Bath into and through Ston Easton, (do not turn left on to Green Street there is no access to Mendip Plains EC along this road) at Rush hill junction turn left on to A39 sign posted Wells, turn next left onto Turnpike corner and bear left onto Green Street.

From Bristol – Avoiding Clean Air Zones:

From Bristol M4 take junction 19 south on to the M32 Bristol.

Travel for approximately 600m and bare left on to the A4174 (ring road) heading for Keynsham.

Continue on the A4174 for approximately 8 miles stay on the ring road until you get to the Hicksgate roundabout, turn left on to the A4 Bath Road dual carriage way signposted Saltford / Bath.

At Broadmead roundabout take the 4th exit on to Bath Road Keynsham B3116 continue for approximately 700m and at the 2nd mini roundabout take first exit on to the B3116 Wells Way.

Continue for several miles to the two headed man where you will turn right on to the A39 towards Marksbury.

Bear left at the traffic lights with the CO-OP fuel station on your right-hand side.

Continue on the A39 where you will get to a T junction controlled by traffic lights with an ‘EXPRESS’ hand car wash in front of you. Turn left on to the A37/A39 signposted Wells/Shepton Mallet.

At traffic lights continue straight ahead and up Rush Hill at the junction continue forward onto the A39 approximately 1 mile (sign posted Wells) take the next left onto Turnpike corner and bear left onto Green Street. Mendip Plains first left.

From Bath – Avoiding Clean Air Zones:

From Bath M4 take Junction 18 (Tormarton roundabout)

Proceed south on the A46 for several miles before getting to the roundabout (Cold Ashton), take the third exit on to the A420 signposted Bristol continue for several miles through Wick until you get to Bridgeyate double mini roundabout.

Take the first exit left on to the A4175 Bath Road continue on to Oldland Common, go straight over the first round about (garden centre on your left) then at the second roundabout take the first exit to Bitton A4175.

At the next mini roundabout take second exit (right) towards Keynsham/Bristol on the A431.

At the next round about take the first exit to A4175 Keynsham Road.

Continue on until passing Keynsham railway station on your left when you get to the next set of traffic lights go straight ahead to the mini round about.

Next round about take the first exit left to Keynsham Highstreet (this is a one way system useful to know for your return journey)

At the end of the high-street turn left down Bath Hill B3116

Continue straight over two mini round abouts up a hill to another mini roundabout then take the second exit to the Wells Way B3116.

Continue for several miles to the two headed man where you will turn right on to the A39 to Marksbury.

Bear left at the traffic lights with the CO-OP fuel station on your right-hand side.

Dressage sheets and rosettes – can be collected from the secretary’s office, or a stamped, self-addressed envelope must be left.

Blindley Heath

Ground Update: Grass cover has been left long. All horse areas will be aggravated: the Arenas, both SJ and Dressage, the Working In Areas and the mown XC Tracks. No electric bikes or cars to go on any of these areas.

Vaccination Checks: The Cliffe Equine Vet Team will make spot checks in the Horse Box Park. Don’t forget your Horse’s Passport

Bicton International

Bicton International is underway.

For those members with horses competing at Bicton are in for a real treat with a free Devon Cream Tea on offer. To take up this offer you must be wearing the Woof Wear lanyard and the correct wristband which are in the rider packs so speak to your rider! The cream teas are on the following arrangement@ one for the rider, one for the groom and 2 per horse for owners (so if there are more owners you will need to decide who gets the cream tea)!

In the Woof Wear Owner / Rider / Groom marquee there is also barista coffee and cake available in the morning, flat breads and salads from 12 – 2pm and a fully licensed bar.

4* CCI- S Belsay International

This weekend sees the inaugural 4* CCI- S at Belsay International. The venue for those travelling up for the weekend can be found here: Belsay Hall and Castle, Belsay, Northumberland, NE20 0DX

For those members on venue Shaws Iberian will be open everyday from around 9.00 am for drinks and food through ‘til there is no one around (or 1.00am whichever comes first).  They will stop serving food at between 8 and 9pm depending on demand. On the Sunday they will stop serving food at around 3.30 pm but drinks will be later.

They are big supporters of the Association so do pop along and introduce yourself to the team – you will get your discount then. For those members that have not travelled up to Northumberland don’t forget about this offer from the team at Shaws Iberian

MARS BADMINTON HORSE TRIALS ROUNDUP

What a Mars Badminton horse trials week – some fabulous performances from so many combinations with the top three horses all being owned by EHOA members – congratulations to you all.

Thank you to everyone who came and used the EHOA hospitality during the week, it was good to see you and hear all the stories – already looking forward to next year.

On Sunday morning our chair, Alex Wakeley, drew the following tickets in the raffle. Below are the lucky recipients:

Finally, Mark Corbett hosted a course walk around the 5* track on Friday and this raised just over £100 for Badminton’s charity – Guide Dogs, thank you to everyone that donated.

MARS Badminton Horse Trials – Saturday

Yesterday at Badminton saw some outstanding performances between the white boards. There are eight owned EHOA horses within the top 10 – so all to play for tomorrow. All results can be found on this link: 

The hospitality marquee will be open from 7:30 with breakfast on the go from 8:00.

If you haven’t seen the start times, they can be found here. Cross country starts at 11:30.

Final reminder for raffle tickets – they are available at the reception desk and the draw will take place at 11am on Sunday morning.

There is a limited amount of merchandise still available – mainly polo shirts, in the marquee otherwise you will need to order via the website. Here is the direct link.

Friday @ Mars Badminton Horse Trials

Some fabulous dressage performances from lots of combinations yesterday and we get to do it all again today.

Hospitality will be open from 8:30 am with breakfast baps, tea / coffee and pastries available to all. A hot lunch on offer from 12:30 with salads and sandwiches available too.

For those members that would like to go course walking with Mark – I know some have already signed up, this will now start at 1pm from our marquee. Please note the new start time.

Tim Slinger from Lycetts and representatives from Weatherbys Bank are all around tomorrow. Feel free to introduce yourselves as they would be happy to answer any queries you may have. Please make them feel at home!

Just a reminder that there are raffle tickets available – some excellent goodies to be had. See Cassie or Tor if you would like to purchase some. The merchandise is on display. Do try it on if you’re not to sure what size to order! We have received some wonderful feedback from those individuals that have already bought items.
