The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials

The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials are fast approaching and I am well aware that people are making their final arrangements prior to travelling to  Lincolnshire this week.

The hospitality marquee will be open for the duration of the event and will be open for business each day from 08:30 with breakfast rolls available to purchase for the early arrivals. For those members who have never attended Burghley you can find the EHOA hospitality marquee adjacent to Ring 2, situated in the middle of the action on cross country day. In the marquee you will be able to purchase lunch on a daily basis along with some sweet treats for a mid morning or afternoon snack. Candy and her wonderful team will once again be providing the food.

Following on form previous emails, please can we confirm that we will be charging guests to come in and we can only accept them if space permits. We always allow well behaved dogs to attend! We have some wonderful volunteers who will be helping to check everyone in. Please try and make their day as easy as possible and have your EHOA badge clearly displayed or your membership card to hand. For those members that are attending for more than one day you will be issued an EHOA wristband for ease of entry but can I ask you please to sign in at the front desk. It is a good opportunity to check that we hold the correct details for you on file.

If you have forgotten to request your stable field pass, you will be to collect your allocation in the marquee throughout the week. Please speak directly to Tor about it.

On Friday lunch time, between the break of the two young event horse classes, Roly Owers from the World Horse Welfare and Madeleine Campbell from the Royal Veterinary College are attending the marquee to chat to members about ethical care, training and competing of the sport horse and how we as members need to be aware of social licence. It should be fascinating and applies to each and everyone of us so please pop in and listen.

If in the mean time you have any questions about anything Burghley related please get in touch.

If not, see you next week.

Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials & AGM details

There follows information about EHOA hospitality and AGM arrangements at Burghley for those of you who are planning to attend. The prospect of elite eventing and enjoying the rest that Burghley has to offer after such a long interval is certainly an exciting one. We are greatly looking forward to seeing many of you over the course of the weekend and to enjoying superb sport.
For event information and to purchase event admission tickets visit:    https://burghley-horse.co.uk/
EHOA HOSPITALITY
As usual, the EHOA hospitality tent is situated by Ring 2, adjacent to the grandstands. Thank you to the Burghley organisers for again allocating owners a plot overlooking the cross country start and finish and close to the action for the Young Event Horse classes and other competitions.
Access: All EHOA members and their guests will be provided with wristbands to enable easy access to the EHOA facilities.
Guests: Providing that we have space members are welcome to invite guests to the EHOA facility on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Guest passes will cost £15 on Thursday, £20 on Friday and £15 on Sunday. We regret that  hospitality guests are unlikely to be able to be accommodated  on Saturday as the number of members wishing to use the facilities means the venue is at capacity. Do watch out for an updated email on this during the event
Stable Field Passes: EHOA members may request up to two stable field passes and will be provided with an additional wristband. To reserve please send a self-addressed envelope to Tor Rickcord, noting the number of passes you require. The address you should send the envelope too is: Stockbridge House, Heytesbury, Warminster, Wilts BA12 0HQ.

Catering:   EHOA provisions will be provided by Candy Watson-Hall of the Event Team Ltd., who has supplied her hospitality marquee and fine food to the Association for two decades. Service will follow the usual format. In addition to delicious salads, sandwiches will also be on offer at lunchtime on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Breakfast goods and afternoon teas will  be available each day along with a coffee, tea, alcoholic and soft drinks. On Sunday, the Associations AGM will be accompanied by a light BBQ lunch, compliments of the Association.
It is always difficult to predict numbers for catering purposes and therefore if you are planning lunch for a large group we would greatly appreciate knowing in advance. The EHOA underwrites the cost of a substantial number of meals over this period and ensuring we estimate sensibly and minimise any unsold meals is important. Please plan to join us for lunch and other meals and make the most of The Event Team’s provision.
Competition Viewing: The EHOA venue will be supplied with large screens so that you can follow all the action via the Burghley TV livestream. Please note that Burghley TV passes for personal use can be purchased from:  www.burghley-horse.co.uk/burghley-tv
WIFI: Those of you who find the lack of internet connectivity at events frustrating and highly detrimental to both your enjoyment of the sport and ability to liaise with competitors and other friends will be pleased to know that the EHOA has purchased dedicated wifi provision. Login details will be provided on arrival.
EHOA AGM
As is the tradition, the EHOA AGM will be held at lunchtime on Sunday 4 September. Further detailed information including the agenda and accounts to follow.  Please take the time to join in the AGM discussions and contribute to the running of the Association. Members are invited to stay for a light BBQ lunch afterwards.  Please send any questions to be raised at the AGM to: the ehoa@gmaill.com
We look forward to seeing very many of you in Stamford in September and take this opportunity to wish owners of competing horses either at Burghley or at the World Championships in Pratoni the smoothest of preparations in the coming weeks.
If you have any questions regarding Burghley arrangements, the AGM or any other EHOA issue then please get in touch either by reply or via: theehoa@gmail.com
With best regards,
The EHOA Board
