Owners at events

The EHOA and other stakeholders are supportive of BE’s considerable effort to get the sport up and running at this time.   Sadly, as with other aspects of our lives, the resumption of normal activity has to take place under the new rules/guidance set by the government at this stage and limiting numbers on site at an event is one such restriction at this time.

The EHOA have raised with BE the importance of owners to the sport and our concerns about the limit on their attendance, and they share our views.   The policy on numbers of attendees will be reviewed on an on-going basis as the restrictions are lifted.  It is difficult to predict the impact that the ‘arrive, compete, depart’ policy will have on attendance until some events have been run.

We will of course let our members know as soon as the overall situation changes.

Good Luck for the rest of the season

Information Hub

in July. To help members answer key questions that they may have, and to highlight the steps and protocals we have in place for resuming sport as safely as possible, we have created a ‘hub’ on the BE website and a detailed resumption guide. We will update information on these pages in line with any changes to the current government guidance.

We ask that all members take the time to carefully read the guidance. Our focus remains on keeping all participants safe, whilst enabling everyone to enjoy a competition experience as close to normal as we can. Therefore, one of our key objectives is to keep the numbers on event to a minimum, and we ask that riders and connections leave the event as soon as possible after completing their competition.

Please note, further information on Championships will be published later this week.

Entries

Following the green light to resume sport in July, entries for the first events will be opening from tomorrow, 24 June on the British Eventing website. If you are planning to make an entry, please take some time to go through the checklist below and read details on some important changes to the entry process.

Before you start, please make sure:

  • You are logged in to your account
  • Have an active and valid membership (Full, Day Pass or Supporter)
  • The owner (if different from the rider) of the horse has an active valid membership (Full, Owner, Joint, Corporate, Syndicate)
  • Day Pass Members have an active Rider Day Pass (not required if you are entering an BE80(T))
  • You have an active Horse Season Ticket or Horse Day Pass

START FEE
To reduce contact on event, Start Fees will now be taken online during the entry process. To do this you will need to ensure that you check the ‘Start Fee’ box under ‘Event Extras’.  It will be mandatory for you to add the start fee in order for your entry to be valid.

More details on the entry process can be found in our How-To video HERE.

REMINDERS
There are also some things you can do to maximise the benefit of the BE entry system, for example if you complete your emergency contact and lorry details within My Account, this will pre-populate each entry you make once you are logged in.

HELP WITH ENTRIES
Currently we are only permitted to have staff in the BE Head Office from 9.30am to 3pm on Thursdays. Staff will be available during these time to take calls, and outside of these times please use the Contact Us form HERE.

Please note that we are still working with a reduced number of staff so there may be delays in answering calls and responding to enquiries.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON EVENT
Please ensure you read our guidance on returning to sport HERE.

VACCINATIONS REMINDER
Ahead of events resuming we would like to take this opportunity to highlight our current vaccinations policy.

We are aware that some members will not have been able to have their horses vaccinated during lockdown.  On the advice of our Chief Veterinary Officer that the risk of Equine Influenza is currently low, we will have an amnesty on the requirement for a booster within 6 months prior to the date of competition, effective from 1st July through to the end of October.

For clarity, horses competing in national classes during the 2020 season must have up to date annual vaccinations. The requirement for the horse to have had the most recent booster within the six months and 21 days prior to the competition will return for the 2021 season.

If your horse has missed the annual vaccination renewal date (i.e. 12 calendar months after the last recorded vaccination in the passport)  then you will need to restart the course of injections again before competing. This means you need to have had a first and second vaccination within no less than 21 days of each other and 7 clear days after the second vaccination before the date of competition.

Those competing at FEI events will require vaccinations in line with FEI requirements.

FURTHER UPDATES
We will be releasing further details in the next few days regarding qualifications, Regional Finals and Championships.

We are all looking forward to resuming eventing and wish you an enjoyable re-start to the season.

RESUMPTION OF THE SPORT

We are delighted to announce that British Eventing has received official confirmation from Sport England and the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) that eventing competitions can resume.

British Eventing has created an operational plan that has now been approved to allow for competition activity to return, within government requirements and social distancing measures currently in place, which has this afternoon been given the green light.

We know this is very exciting news for everyone, and we will provide more information on Monday.
