Belsay Horse Trials

Entries are now open for a very special edition of Belsay Horse Trials – “Chatsworth at Belsay” (16-18 May).

This is the first of two international fixtures here at Belsay in May and is acting as a replacement for the lost event at Chatsworth. It is the first time that Belsay will host a class at FEI CCI4*-S level, which will take place alongside a CCI2*-S, and national advanced and novice classes. Belsay’s well-established fixture featuring international classes from CCI1*-CCI3* and the Pony and Junior National Championships will take place in its usual place in the calendar from 28 May-1 June.

Belsay (1) will occupy a largely different part of the estate, with fresh cross-country courses designed by Adrian Ditcham, to Belsay (2), in order to give competitors the best possible ground conditions and exciting, varied tracks that will both challenge and reward horses and riders. The CCI4*-S track will be a fantastic prep run for those combinations heading for Bramham in June.

We have made an enormous investment in this new event and we couldn’t have done this without the support of our extremely generous sponsors led by leading London law firm Forsters LLP and wealth management company RBC Brewin Dolphin, Chaser Communications, Falcons Events, Stratstone Newcastle and Stephex UK Ltd. We are also extremely grateful to all those supporters, old and new, that have stepped in to sponsor fences on our wonderful new cross-country courses.

THE LYCETTS WELCOME PARTY

Lycetts are kindly sponsoring our welcome reception for competitors and owners staying on site or locally. This will take place at Belsay Hall from 6.00-8.00pm on Friday 16th May, by kind permission of English Heritage and the Belsay Trust. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the inside of this Grade 1 list iconic Greek Revivalist House, as well as the beautiful Italian Terrace garden.

OWNERS HOSPITALITY

The EHOA have kindly provided us with financial support to entertain owners at both our events in May. There will be an EHOA tent with coffee and refreshments for each day of the competition.

We are also offering owners the opportunity to purchase lunch in our adjacent Hospitality Tent which will be available at a cost of £50.00 for two courses.  Please let us know if you would like to go ahead with this opportunity by emailing laura@belsay.com.

ACCOMMODATION

Owners are welcome to stay onsite in horseboxes or campervans, but please do register with us by emailing horsetrials@belsay.com. If you require hook-up this will be £125.00.

We are delighted to offer The Bell’s Glamping at both Belsay events this year. With a choice of double or twin beds, real duvets and beautiful soft furnishings throughout, bathroom facilities, outdoor seating and a BBQ, prices start at £150 per night and can be booked via www.thebellsglamping.co.uk/bht

Matfen Hall Hotel, one of Belsay’s sponsors, is situated just a few miles to the west of Belsay and has excellent facilities including a golf course and spa. Find out more via their website www.matfenhall.com and please mention Belsay when booking.

STABLING

Stabling is available on site and can be booked at the time of entry via the BE website. There is also a list of off-site stabling on our website www.belsayhorsetrials.co.uk/stabling

CHARITY SUPPORT

Belsay International (1) and (2) will be raising money for the British Eventing Support Trust and the Great North Air Ambulance. There will be an auction and raffle taking place during the course of the competition. Please do let us know if you would like to donate an item for either of these.

BYEH at BELSAY

Belsay (1) is the venue for the third BYEH qualifier of the season with the 4 year old and 5 year old classes taking place on Friday 16th May. Please visit https://belsayhorsetrials.co.uk/byeh-1/ for further information, schedule and how to enter.

We really hope that you will bring your horses to ‘Chatsworth at Belsay’ and look forward to welcoming you here.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any queries you might have.

With best wishes,

Kind regards,

 Laura de Wesselow

Organiser, Belsay International Horse Trials
