Badminton Horse Trials 2022, presented by Mars Equestrian

Updates on Badminton 2022

The draw was made yesterday and will be published soon on www.badminton-horse.co.uk why not take a look to see where your horse is running. Lots of EHOA owned horses competing, exciting times ahead! In our hospitality marquee we will have the daily EHOA horses competing listed so members can see and support their fellow Owners.

If you are planning on attending Badminton and wish to use our hospitality marquee, please can I ask you to check that your membership is up to date. If you’re not sure drop me an email and I will respond accordingly. It makes it much easier for those volunteering on the day and less onerous on paperwork when you check in. just to note we will be permitting guests, should space permit, but will be charging per day for them. Rates for 2022 are:

Thursday £15

Friday £15

Saturday £25

Sunday £10

We will be welcoming new members so do bring along friends, family or like minded eventing friends who would like to join the EHOA!

Should you wish to use the card machine whilst in the marque over the week I just need to let you know we have to charge £1.75 per transaction, sadly we get charged that amount per transaction by the bank! So, if you prefer to pay by cash, we will be happy to accept it!

The Drinks Reception and Dinner in the Directors tent has had a huge take up and tickets are now all sold out – just waiting on the final payments but we will be holding a waiting list for those members who might still want to come and join the fun because as we know with horses there are quite often last-minute changes! Please email: theehoa@gmail.com should you wish to go on the wait list and we will respond if a place becomes available.

Board director Mark Corbett has offered to walk the Voltaire Design Grassroots cross country course with any competitors or connections should they wish on Tuesday evening. Let us know if you would like to take up this offer. Mark will also be walking the 5* track on Friday afternoon if any members would like to join him. Do make yourself known and timings will be confirmed with those people participating.

We are still looking for a couple of volunteers for Thursday and Sunday to assist with running the front desk – please let Tor know if you can help – Totsy1@hotmail.co.uk

For those members that are involved with the grassroots we are looking forward to welcoming you in the marquee when you have finished competing. We will have some EHOA representatives out and about on Tuesday and Wednesday so do make yourselves known to them. Don’t forget if you are involved with prize giving, it takes place in front of the main house directly after the 5* first trot up. Shearwater Insurance are supporting the EHOA members with additional prizes so even if you are not involved with the main prize giving you could potentially be required for the EHOA one – keep a close eye on the score boards! Lots of fabulous goodies on offer and a photo in front of Badminton House!

Not long to go now until we welcome you to Badminton – see you in the great park in 14 days.

Easter Weekend Activity

Another busy weekend of eventing coming up.

Tomorrow sees the start of the Barefoot Retreats Burnham Market International -located at Sussex Farm, Burnham Market, Nr. Docking, Norfolk PE31 8JY. There is a hospitality marquee for all EHOA members and Owners of competing horses – please do pop in a use the facilities on offer. You will find, tea/coffee, newspapers, easter treats and a lite but to eat for lunch. It is situated just above the main arena with a beautiful garden vista onto the show jumping. Make the most of what looks like a warm & sunny few days. Just a note from the Organisers about a potential delay on your journey to Norfolk.

Please can all competitors and spectators be aware of the roadworks taking place on Sutton Bridge A17. Only one lane is open and there is a 3 – way Traffic Light system. This is causing MAJOR disruption and very long queues. There is a diversion route along the A17, A47, Lynn Road, A1101, A117 and vice versa. We recommend using the route to avoid the queues. PLEASE give yourself extra journey time in case of delays and disruption.https://www.traffic-update.co.uk/traffic/sutton-bridge.asp

If you cannot bear the thought of the bank holiday traffic heading to Norfolk a reminder that there will be live scoring on www.eventingscores.com and Horse and Country TV are covering the action.

Then a member has been in touch to say she can no longer make it to Norfolk this weekend and has a room booked at The White House from Thursday – Saturday. Please contact them directly if you would like the spare room – www.stayattheehitehouse.co.uk

Also taking place this weekend:

Ascot under Wychwood – located at Crown Farm, Ascott Under Wychwood, Oxfordshire, OX7 6AB

Voltaire Design Eland Lodge – located at Eland Lodge, Draycott-in-the-Clay, Ashbourne, Ashbourne, Derbyshire, DE6 5HD

Wishing everyone out and about competing over the next few days the very best of luck.

Happy Easter.

EHOA becomes an official strategic partner with British Eventing.

Further cementing our relationship with British Eventing.

British Eventing is delighted to announce that the Event Horse Owners Association (EHOA) have aligned with British Eventing by becoming an official strategic partner.

Helen West, Chief Executive for British Eventing said of the partnership “Our relationship with the EHOA has always been a strong one and coming together in the way that we now are will strengthen this even further.  The EHOA  already play a pivotal role in the sport and with them now aligning formally with us we will be able to work to shared objectives in a much more impactful way.

During a recent conversation with the EHOA we mentioned that we would very much like to focus on delivering some Continuing Personal Development (CPD) training for our Coaches and Officials.  The EHOA also recognised the value that this would have for the sport as a whole and generously offered the financial support necessary to deliver the two training programmes.  We will be meeting with the EHOA regularly to discuss the developments and needs of the sport and we look forward to working alongside them as a key stakeholder group”.

The EHOA is an association for owners of event horses and was created to encourage and increase the enjoyment of their participation in the sport.  It is an association that is run by owners for owners.  Whether it is multiple horses that are owned or just a minority share in a single horse the EHOA is there to welcome you with membership starting at just £42 per annum.

The support that the EHOA are giving British Eventing for Coaches and Officials CPD training will allow for a programme to be created over couple of months with a planned delivery during the autumn.  More information in respect of the training programme will be shared with the EHOA, our coaches and officials once it is available.

Maria Haig, Head of Communications for British Eventing said “We are extremely grateful to the EHOA and are unable to thank them enough for agreeing to work alongside us in the way that they are. As owners they are already critical to the ongoing success of the sport and to have them align with us to assist us meet our objectives absolutely sets the standard for other sports to follow.”

Linda Allen, Chair of the EHOA said “It goes without saying owners are extremely passionate about the sport and we are looking forward to working alongside Helen and her team to assist wherever we can.  We are pleased to have been able to help with developing the coaching and officials’ network and we look forward to seeing the training roll out later in the year.  This is very much the beginning of our support and we are already in discussions of where we can assist further.”

The EHOA welcomes enquiries form individuals who would like to join or would like to learn about the Association’s activities. Membership and contact details can be found here.
